Missing a single tooth is a problem, but missing multiple teeth is even more of a headache. Not only do missing teeth affect your appearance, but their absence can also affect your oral health.
Missing teeth can make it hard to chew comfortably and speak clearly, and the gaps can force your remaining teeth to shift out of place and affect your bite.
The good news: We have several options for restoring your smile. At Smile Design Studio of Bethesda, our team of dentists offers several types of dental implants, including All-on-X ® full arches.
Read on to find out if All-on-X full arches are right for you.
All dental implants consist of three main parts: a titanium post (which acts like a prosthetic tooth root), an abutment (to connect the post to the crown), and a dental crown (a prosthetic tooth).
The titanium post fuses with your jawbone in a process called osseointegration. When this happens, your dental implant forms a strong, sturdy foundation for your dental crown. Dental implants can replace a single tooth or several teeth.
If you need multiple teeth replaced, you don’t need to receive a dental implant for every single missing tooth. With the All-on-X full arch, you need just a few dental implants to support an entire arch of teeth (via a fixed dental bridge).
You might have an entire bridge supported by two, four, or even six implants. Depending on how many implants you need to support your fixed dental bridge, your implant may be referred to as “All-on-4” or “All-on-6.”
Because All-on-X full arches are permanently secured in your mouth, you don’t have to worry about the upkeep or hassles associated with removable dentures. There’s no nightly soaking required and no need to fuss with messy denture adhesive.
All-on-X arches combine the best of dental implants and dentures so you can have a confident, beautiful smile.
All-on-X full arches aren’t right for everyone, so the only way to know for sure if implants are right for you is through a consultation here at Smile Design Studio of Bethesda. Other implant options include TeethXpress® and implant-supported overdentures.
During your consultation, we review your cosmetic concerns, examine your mouth, review digital X-rays of your mouth, and discuss your restoration preferences.
